The ban on PUBG Mobile in India took every player by surprise. It’s been five months since the ban, and fans are eagerly waiting for the relaunch of the game in India.
PUBG Corp dropped a piece of good news on 12th November – the announcement of Indian specific PUBG mobile version. However, after that launch of the game has been ceased, and the Indian government was blamed for the delay of PUBG Mobile India release.
But the recent news surfaced on the Internet confirmed PUBG Mobile India is not banned by MEITY. Gemwire filed an RTI to MEITY about the ban of PUBG Mobile in India.
The Institue confirmed, “block only applies to the specific app PUBG Mobile Nordic Map: Livik (PUBG Mobile global version) and PUBG Mobile Lite.” Check the reply below:
The three points highlighted were”
- Basically, MEITY didn’t ban public access to PUBG Mobile, they just block access to the game.
- The block only applies to the specific app PUBG Mobile Nordic Map: Livik (PUBG Mobile global version) and PUBG Mobile Lite. That is why players can still freely play other versions of PUBG Mobile including PUBG Mobile Korean version and PUBG Mobile Vietnam version.
- PUBG has not done a formal dialogue with the MEITY.
This specifies, the Indian government has only blocked the access to PUBG mobile global version and not actually banned it. Means, PUBG Mobile India won’t be blocked by the government if released.
However, PUBG Corp has not formally confronted MEITY as in the past. While talking about the game’s release, PUBG Mobile India doesn’t actually have any obstacle by the government for the release. It indicates the release date of the game might be announced soon.
