Why Ban PUBG Mobile in India

PUBG mobile is banned by the Indian Government under the section 69A of the Information Technology Act, on the grounds saying that “they are engaged in activities which is prejudicial to sovereignty and integrity of India, defense of India, security of state and public order.”

As per the Indian government and the official statement, the apps were accused of stealing users privacy, data and sharing it with China. In order to protect and safeguard the data, these apps were banned by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology.

The ministry said – “The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology has received many complaints from various sources, including several reports about the misuse of some mobile apps available on Android and iOS platforms for stealing and surreptitiously transmitting users’ data in an unauthorized manner to servers which have locations outside India. The compilation of these data, its mining and profiling by elements hostile to national security and defence of India, which ultimately impinges upon the sovereignty and integrity of India, is a matter of very deep and immediate concern which requires emergency measures.”

PUBG Mobile developers later respond by ensuring the safety and privacy of users’ data. They also promised to meet the requirements of the Indian government and solve the issues asap.

Problems Need to be fixed

  1. The primary concern of the Indian government is the users’ data protection and privacy, PUBG Mobile Indian version must keep the users’ data and authority to itself in the country, ensuring the safety, security and sovereignty of users’.
  2. PUBG Mobile Indian version should also have its own server to compensate the lag issues in the game and deliver smooth gameplay experience.
  3. The Indian version should also have a region-specific Hindi chat system, to connect large numbers of users easily.
