Tencent’s enormously popular video game PUBG Mobile and PUBG Mobile Lite got banned in India due to ongoing border dispute between India and China. PUBG Mobile along with 118 Chinese apps was crushed in between the conflicts of India and Chine.
The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology of India banned 118 Chinese applications in India as they pose a threat to the national security and privacy of the citizens of India. PUBG mobile is banned by the Indian Government under the section 69A of the Information Technology Act “they are engaged in activities which is prejudicial to sovereignty and integrity of India, defence of India, security of state and public order”.

If Data Security Problem is Solved
PUBG Mobile faced an unexpected downfall in India due to Chinese provocation in Ladakh. PUBG Mobile ban in India has not only disappointed Indian players and gaming community but also led to a loss to the company of $34 million since the ban. Tencent is a Chinese company and any data accessed by them can be given to the Chinese government (as per Chinese Laws). Though the PUBG Mobile India’s server is in India itself, still the Chinese team can access the data anytime which sparks a privacy concern for Indian citizens who plays the game. Hence, PUBG Mobile was banned. If Tencent allows the authentication of data gathered by Indians and prevents other outer bodies to access the data, then only they can file a petition to unban PUBG Mobile in India.
Wait For Conflict to Cool Down
The ongoing tension between India and China in Ladakh has disrupted the whole nation. Only If the situation calm down between both Countries, India may unban PUBG Mobile as a gesture of reconciliation. If this is about to happen, it’s going to take so long, maybe a few months or even a year.
