SteamVR No longer Supports MacOS

Rest in Peace to SteamVR on Mac!

Steam announced surprising news for MacOs today–SteamVR will no longer support MacOS from now on. SteamVR was introduced by Steam for Apple OS way back in 2017 has now pulled back. So, MacOS gaming platform will not support virtual reality from today.

The big news announced by Valve read: “SteamVR has ended macOS support so our team can focus on Windows and Linux.” Valve’s now planning to concentrate VR on other platforms like Windows and Linux other than Mac. Fortunately, Linus is safe.

The Steam Virtual Reality software is available on Windows and Linux now after three rough years on MacOS since 2017. However, Mac users still have some acces said Valve “We recommend that macOS users continue to opt into the SteamVR [macos] branches for access to legacy builds.”
